The lot features a collection of four original Dillion, Montana late 19th century to early 20th century Fraternal Society Ribbon Pinbacks. The ribbon pinbacks are from the Modern Woodmen of America Fraternal Society of Dillion Camp No. 9511. M.W.A. Dillon, Mont. The ribbons each feature a green, white and red background with patriotic US Flags along the top and round celluloid medallions with the MWA medallion and Latin banner (Pur Autre Vie). Three of the ribbons show a celluloid gold brass framed pinback showing two men’s fist bumping, an excellent litho image. The ribbons read "Dillon Camp No. 9511 M.W.A. Dillon, Mont.". The ribbons are in good condition. One is missing the top celluloid pinback. Each ribbon measures 2.5" x 8". Modern Woodmen of America was founded by Joseph Cullen Root in 1883. His goal was to create an organization that would protect families following the death of a breadwinner. The organization was open to most religions, but was restricted to white males the ages of 18-45 and only in the “healthiest” states. Only Montana ribbons available for purchase.
