This is a nice example of an early series 1937 production P.08 Luger that was manufactured by the Mauser factory with the all blued parts and the checkered walnut grips. The top of the chamber is dated 1937 and it has the "S/ 42" code marking on the front toggle. It has the early style "Eagle/ 63" Waffenamt proofs on the barrel extension and underside of the barrel. There is a single eagle firing proof also on the barrel extension, barrel and breechblock. It has the standard "GESICHERT" and "GELADEN" on the upper safety area and extractor, respectively. It is fitted with standard checkered walnut grips and is complete with one blue unmarked magazine with an aluminum base that is marked "8718/n/+" with the eagle 63 Waffenamt proof.
BBL: 4 inch round
Stock:
Gauge: 9 mm Luger
Finish: blue
Grips: walnut checkered
Serial Number: 3981a
Condition: Very fine with 97% of the original blued finish with just minor edge and high spot wear overall with browning on the grip straps. The walnut grips are in very fine condition with nice sharp checkering on both sides, a few minor nicks and dings on the right side and a small pressure dent on the upper left side. The very front upper edge of the left grip has broken off. It has all matching numbers except the magazine. Mechanically excellent.
