Manufactured in 1850. The revolver has the distinctive combination of a square-back brass trigger guard and rectangular cylinder stop found only on Second Model Dragoons. The top flat of the barrel is marked "-ADDRESS SAML COLT NEW-YORK CITY-" reading toward the breech. The left side of the frame is marked "COLTS/PATENT/US" with a small "M" ahead of that. There is a small "K" on the front edge of the trigger guard. The cylinder is roll engraved with the Ranger and Indian fight scene and "MODEL U.S.M.R./COLT'S PATENT" legend and clear serial number in the center. The complete matching serial number is stamped on the barrel lug, frame, cylinder, arbor pin, trigger guard, loading lever and back strap. The wedge is mis-matched "9216. Fitted with a smooth one piece walnut grip.

Condition: Very good plus. The metal surfaces have a crisp mottled gray patina with some minor flash pitting along the front edge of the cylinder. The brass has a pleasant aged patina. At least 95% of the extraordinary original cylinder scene is visible and the markings are clear. The grip is also very good with some wear on the lower right side edge and showing some minor scratches and dents. The action is excellent.
