This is a very nice example of an original DWM Model 1906 First Issue/modified, German Navy Luger rig that is complete with an original Navy stock and holster with straps. These were the regulation pre-WWI Navy issue Lugers for the serial German Navy all the way through WWI and even into the Weimar era, albeit almost all were reworked or destroyed under the Versailles treaty after WWI. This series of Navy Luger has the standard grip safety, with the altered second pattern (upper) marked safety with no chamber date. The left side of the barrel extension has the double Crown over "M" proof marks with the smaller Imperial "Crown" firing proof, that is repeated again on the left side of the barrel. The frame and underside of the barrel are both correctly numbered with the full serial number (4514a). The last two digits of the serial number (14) are correctly stamped on the various small parts. The back grip strap is correctly inscribed "W.W./3045". The magazine that accompanies this pistol is the original pre-war Navy version that has the nickel plated body with the wooden base with the concentric circles on the ends. Also accompanying this Luger is an original Navy model, walnut board shoulder stock (non matching) that is numbered on top of the attaching iron "7837a". The walnut stock itself is not proofed, however it still has the original steel stock disc on the left side that does have a small "Crown/M" Navy proof on the disc. The holster itself is an original German Navy model that accommodates the six-inch barrel and is marked on the inside "LOH SOHNE/ACT. GES./BERLIN". It has the correct cleaning rod pouch sewn on the side, with the pouch for the takedown tool on the inside of the flap, that contains a unmarked takedown tool. The holster is complete with an original wooden handled, brass cleaning rod with the early pattern zigzag end.
BBL: 6 inch round
Stock:
Gauge: 9 mm Luger
Finish: blue
Grips: walnut
Serial Number: 4514a
Condition: Excellent with 95% of the slightly faded original blue finish overall with wear on the edges and high spots overall, with actual blue loss on the side plate hump, the left side of the muzzle area, and the front edges of the frame rails, with some minor pitting starting to show on the upper right edge of the front grip strap. The top of the chamber area and breechblock have a light brown/speckled pattern on the blue finish, that looks like the pistol was wrapped in some kind of cloth, that lightly removed some very minor pin-prick size spots of the blue finish, however it's not pitted or rusted. The various small parts all retain 50% of the original straw color, with most of the finish loss on the trigger itself. The Luger has matching numbers except the grips, firing pin and magazine which are all unnumbered. The Navy stock (which is not matching) is very good plus overall with a nice medium brown color with minor scratches overall with a few minor light pressure dents in a few places. The Navy holster is excellent with a nice dark black color overall showing minor wear and scuffing in a few places with tight stitching, overall. The holster markings are clear and distinct. The leather shoulder straps for the holster and stock are fair on and show much color and finish loss with one strap broken off. This is a very nice pre-WWI Navy rig.
