The light floral engraved lock is marked "WARRANTED" and the top barrel flat is marked in script "Jas R McQuaid". Jams R. Mquaid (born 1818) is listed as having been a gunsmith in Canton, Illinois from 1844-1856 (refer to page 196 of American Gunsmiths by Frank Sellers). Brass fittings with an engraving on the patch box and side plate. Fixed barrel sights, tang peep sight, and double set triggers. Full length maple stock with an engraved eagle oval overlay on cheekpiece.

Condition: Very good as restored. The barrel has a mottled brown patina with a darker patina on the action. There is some minor spotting. The brass is fine with a detached overlay near the patchbox (overlay is included). The stock is very good with the professionally lenghtened forearm having a few missing slivers and some scattered minor dings overall. The trigger assembly is missing a screw, otherwise action functions properly.
