This is an excellent example of a M14E2 fully automatic rifle that was produced by the Smith Enterprise company using one of their original manufactured receivers. This receiver is not one of those that the selector switch lug was later added on to the receiver instead it was cast or forged directly on to the bottom of the receiver and then fully machined just like the original Government M14 rifles. This example is fitted with an original GI M14E2, pistol grip stock. This configuration of M14 rifle as used in the fully automatic role was designated as the "automatic rifleman" at the squad level and this weapon was the first true squad automatic rifle. This rifle has a mix of original GI parts which include a TRW marked bolt, HRA marked operating rod, along with a Winchester trigger housing and SA marked hammer. The rifle is fitted with a late manufacture GI National Match barrel that was made by the SACO Defense company which is marked on the right side with; "SAK--779136362--1-76-8098240", with the correct "NM" marking on the top of the barrel behind the rear sight. The stock assembly as noted is the correct M14E2 configuration with the distinct pistol grip, front folding fore grip under the forend, with the correct folding buttplate assembly. The left side of the stock has a DOD cartouche with a single circle "P" proof in front of the pistol grip. It also has the correct style slotted hand guard with the correct M14E2 style muzzle brake assembly that fits over the original flash hider. This rifle is complete with one twenty round magazine and a GI folding bipod assembly. As noted this is a fully automatic rifle that is listed as a transferable Class III rifle, so please check your local laws to make sure you can own this rifle before bidding.
