Manufactured in 1861, this revolver is one of only about 4,000 Colt Model 1860 Army Revolvers manufactured with the full fluted cylinder (Many of these revolvers were shipped to the South which can only be proven with a factory letter not available to describer). These revolvers appear in the first 8,000 serial numbers and have a four-screw frame with recoil shields and back strap heel cut for an attachable shoulder stock. Brass trigger guard and iron back strap. The top of the barrel is marked "-ADDRESS SAML COLT HARTFORD CT-" and "COLT'S/PATENT" is stamped on left side of the frame, with the 1860 patent date marked in one of the cylinder flutes. There is a small letter "D" stamped on the left trigger guard shoulder. The matching serial number is marked on the barrel, frame, trigger guard and back strap. The cylinder pin is number "396" and the wedge is un-numbered. Fitted with one piece smooth walnut grip.
