Only about 2,000 Model 1890 Single Action Army revolvers were manfactured by Remington from 1891 to 1894 with blue finish examples such as this one being scarce and very desirable. The revolver was a competitor to the Colt Single Action Army. The barrel has a nickel-silver front sight blade and is marked "REMINGTON ARMS CO. ILION.N.Y." on the top. The caliber designation, "44 C.F.W." (44-40) is stamped on the left side of the frame below the cylinder and the serial number is located on the left side of the butt under the grip panel with the number repeated on the inside of each grip panel. Lanyard stud and ring on the butt. The revolver had a high polish blue finish, the hammer was casehardened and the trigger is niter blue. The grips are checkered with the "RA" monogram at the top.
BBL: 7 1/2 inch round
Stock:
Gauge: 44-40
Finish: blue
Grips: hard rubber
Serial Number: 1755
Condition: Very good plus. The revolver retains 20% scattered original blue finish mainly contained to the protected areas, with a smooth mottled brown patina on the balance. There are strong traces of the original case colors on the hammer. There is a moderate chip on the right heel, otherwise the grips are also very good with crisp checkering. The markings are clear. The action is very good with exception of the half cock notch being absent.
