Desirable Antique Winchester Model 1892 Lever Action Rifle

This Winchester Model 1892 Lever Action Sporting Rifle was manufactured in 1893. The rifle has a 24 inch round barrel, full-length magazine and crescent buttplate. The barrel, magazine, forearm cap, receiver and bolt are blue with the hammer, trigger, lever and buttplate color casehardened. The stock and forearm are straight grain American walnut with an oil finish. The barrel has a sporting front sight with nickel silver blade and sporting style rear sight with adjustable center insert. The upper tang is factory drilled and tapped for a rear sight. The top of the barrel is roll stamped "-MANUFACTURED BY THE-/-WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN. CONN. U.S.A.-" ahead of the rear sight. The caliber designation "32 W.C.F." is stamped on the top of the barrel between the rear sight and the receiver. The upper receiver tang is roll stamped "MODEL 1892/-WINCHESTER-/PAT. OCT. 14. 1894". The serial number "67788" is roll stamped across the bottom of the receiver.

Very fine. The rifle is all original and retains 80% plus of the original blue and casehardened finish. The blue finish is thin on the top of the barrel, bolt and upper tang. The right side of the receiver has some light and scattered age spotting. The case colors on the hammer, trigger, lever and buttplate are muted but retain at least 85%. The markings on the barrel and receiver are crisp. The stock and forearm are both very fine and retain most of the oil finish. Wear is limited to a few scattered and very insignificant handling marks. This is a very fine original example of an antique Winchester Model 1892 Lever Action Rifle.
