Thomas (Tommy) Singer (born 1940 - May 31, 2014)
He is one of the most regarded silversmiths in Navajo history having created the ‘CHIP INLAY’ an intricate use of turquoise and coral chips integrated in to the silver work. This method made Mr. Singer famous world around in the 60’s. He is known for his overlay work, storyteller pieces, rug patterns and traditional motifs.
Zuni craftsmanship at its finest. Very detailed inlay hummingbird set in sterling, designed from etched black jet and/or onyx, abalone shell, mother-of-pearl and coral. (The Edaakie family specializes in mosaic inlay of birds and animals, particularly hummingbirds.) The tips 22.2 mm at the widest and 11.7 mm at the narrow end, they measure approximately 38.7 mm in length. They come with a Tino USA quartz timepiece and silver colored expansion strap. Tips are not stamped sterling, but are stamped D. Edaakie (Dennis Edaakie hallmark) by the artist NOTE: piece has been tested and is silver. Owner states all timepiece worked when they were put into storage.
