Deluxe cased French style pepperbox pistol marked Mariette brevete showing fluted ebony grips, satin or bright metal of finish, standard engraved type frame with 4 shots of approximately .38 caliber or 9 mm. The pepper box measures 8 ¼” overall with 3 ¼” barrel cluster remains in near fine condition showing some light cleaning and some just beginning areas of normal aging. The pistol is contained within a French fitted case with embossed fancy lid and original ebony and ivory accessories with combination tool and even an original key is in the compartment with a wax seal showing the original owners logo or crest. The interior of the box is invery good condition with just some normal aging and slight fading. The exterior of the box is extremely ornate and quite rare showing a black pearl overlay and brass plaque and wire inlays. The top of the boxshows a fancy intertwined scrolled center inlaid plaque engraved with the initials A de R.
