This is a very fine example of a Military Luger pistol that was produced by the DWM factory in 1913. It has always been generally accepted that the new model 1914 Luger started being produced in 1914. However with this example dated "1913", it clearly proves the new Model 1914 actually started being produced in late 1913. This model is easily distinguished by the hold-open device with the stock lug on the rear grip strap. The chamber area of the barrel extension is dated 1913 and it has the DWM logo on the front toggle assembly. The right side of the barrel extension has the standard Crown over script proofs with the underside of the barrel marked, with the full serial number, and "Bo26". This indicates that this luger has been fitted with a Bohler steel barrel. It has the military style serial numbering and placement on all the various parts. This pistol has a rust blued metal finish with the straw colors on the appropriate small parts and it is fitted with a set of checkered walnut grips. This luger has a correct WWI nickel plated magazine with the wooden base that is marked "8517m" .
BBL: 4 inch round
Stock:
Gauge: 9 mm Luger
Finish: blue/straw colors
Grips: walnut checkered
Serial Number: 5957b
Condition: Very fine with 90% plus of the slightly faded original blue finish present with only minor wear on the edges and high spots. The various small parts, retain 50% of their original straw colors with a slightly lesser amount on the trigger itself. It has fine grips with nice distinct checkering on both sides with even honest wear across the tops of the checkering. This example has all matching numbers except the magazine as noted above. Mechanically excellent. A very fine example of a very scarce Pre-WWI Military Luger.
