This model was manufactured specifically for the Portuguese Army during the era of Manuel II who ruled for only two years. Approximately 5,000 were produced in 1908 through 1910, and this is an early two digit serial number. The top of the chamber is marked with the large Portuguese Crown over the "M2" crest and the top of the front toggle link is marked with "DWM". The extractor is marked "CARREGADA", it has a grip safety and no stock lug. The safety area on the toggle housing is unmarked, with the "safe" position left in bright finish. The only proof marks are a triangle in a circle proof on the left side of the barrel extension and the bottom of the barrel. It has the serial number on the bottom of the barrel and the front of the frame. The trigger, take down lever, magazine release, ejector and thumb safety are straw colored. The grips are checkered walnut with matching serial numbers to the gun and the magazine is nickel plated with the unnumbered wooden base.

Condition: Arsenal refurbished with 95% original finish with 85% original straw finish on the small parts. The recheckered grips are in very good condition. Mechanically excellent.
