This is an excellent example of a 1906 DWM "American Eagle" Luger. Many of these early commercial Lugers were manufactured for commercial sales throughout the world. The "American Eagle" variations were manufactured to capture interest in the U.S.. This example has the correct short style frame and upper receiver, flat checkered toggles, and grip safety with the standard 4 3/4 inch tapered barrel, with no stock lug. The top of the chamber area is roll marked with the distinctive, "American Eagle" crest, along with the correct "LOADED" marked extractor with the polished, lower safety area of the frame. The pistol is correctly numbered in the commercial style with the full serial number on the underside of the barrel and the front of the frame with "GERMANY" stamped below the serial number, along with the last two digits of the matching serial number stamped on the various smaller parts. Crown/N proofs. This pistol is fitted with a beautiful set of dark European checkered walnut grips and is complete with a replacement Swiss 06/24 magazine that has bright body with an unmarked wood base.
