D. Nippes U.S. contract flintlock musket converted to percussion, .70 cal., 42” barrel, full stock, iron ramrod, lockplate dated 1846. This gun is in overall well-worn condition with moderate pitting at firingarea, good action, dark bore, wood stock shows an old repair at the top of the wrist including an old replacement bolt in the top tang; two partially visible inspector’s cartouches on the left side of the stockabove the trigger area; only approx. 5,600 of these guns were manufactured on contract to the U.S. government between 1842 and 1848.
