Custom sporting rifle on model 30 Remington Express action, in .460 Guns & Ammo caliber by Abe & Van Horn LA California. Action is hand engraved. “G&A Exp. No. S1.” Remington action #14558. The rifle measures 45-1/2”overall with 24-1/2” overall and weighs 8.6lbs. The rifle is beautifully made and exceptionally stocked in figured walnut with crisp checkering, extended pistol grip, G&A Logo on grip cap, exotic hardwood forend cap. Raised ramp with screw-adjustable, ramp front sight, studs for European type sling swivels. The small parts are case hardened. The rifle is nicely blued. The stock measures 12-3/4” to the end of the wood, 14-1/2” tothe end of the pad. The interior is completely worked as is the trigger. The exterior shows only slight use. The invention of this caliber and the interesting story is chronicled in the Guns & Ammo magazine ofwhich Robert Petersen was publisher. An interesting gun with a documented story of its development.
