Custom barreled single-shot target rifle. Barrel marked Geo. C. Schoyen, Denver, Colo. on Ballard #6 action. Serial #33182 on action. Shows medium to slightly heavy-weight octagon barrel, .33-40 caliber, bulletstarter, double-set triggers, customized lever, schutzen type buttstock with nickeled schutzen butt and custom forend with palm rest. The barrel shows blocks for target scope that are tapped into the barrel. Thereceiver is engraved with elk on left, jumping deer on right which is possibly by Schoyen, not the quality engraving of early Ballards. The barrel shows a light brown patina finish, with traces of case hardeningon the frame. The stocks are very good plus, some minor scratches, normal use. Action is good, bore excellent. There are milled indentations at the breech and 12” down the barrel for clamp-type old scope mount. One of the better known names in custom target rifles. From the John Goodlad collection. Est: $2,500 - $5,000
