Manufactured in 1918, features a #3 round barrel with a dove tailed blade front sight and rear sight removed and barrel fitted with scope blocks. The top of the barrel is marked with the standard two line Winchester address/patent dates followed by "MADE IN U.S.A." ahead of the rear sight, the Winchester proof steel marking near the breech followed by "25-35W.C." The bottom of the barrel under the forearm is marked "JC.M.S. 25-35" and "3". The top of of the barrel ahead of the front scope base is non-factory drilled and tapped and it appears that two holes have been filled at the breech and two between the front scope block and drilled and tapped holes. There is a hole at the breech end of the barrel that is partially covered by the takedown ring. The top of the receiver at the breech is marked with an altered Winchester oval proof and a "P" in an oval and a custom proof. The barrel has been rethreaded and refitted to the action with a new chamber. The serial number is marked on the lower tang and the upper tang is marked with the three line model, maker, patent information. All blue finish and mounted with a smooth Schnabel forearm with ebony insert and straight grip stock with a silver finished Swiss style buttplate.

Condition: Very good as refinished. The rifle retains 95% blue finish with some thinning on the barrel and flaking on the takedown ring. The buttplate retains 50% frosted silver finish with wear on the end of the prongs. The freshededwood is good and showing a few minor dents and handling marks. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is excellent.
