Custom Long Range Target rifle based on an 1878 Borchardt action in .45-100 cal., #19719. The rifle shows a 33” tapered round barrel that is marked “Sharps Rifle Co., Bridgeport, Conn.” at the breech with flushgold bands and “Old Reliable” also gold inlaid. The action shows Sharps address on left side with patent dates and #19719. The frame retains 50-70% old case hardened finish with some staining and erosion. The riflehas been re-stocked and upgraded in modern times for famous Southern California collector and shooter, Ken Fox about 1990. He stated to this cataloger that the rifle was made by Zischang but there is nosubstantiation. The stocks are very good + with some minor scratches; the butt is mounted with a Schutzen butt plate constructed of brass, not fit well. Modern long range rear sight and spirit level frontsight also added. The action is good, the bore is near excellent. Est.: $2,500-$5,000.
