Colonel Charles Askins was a legendary adventurer and author. He will be remembered as a writer, hunter, champion pistol shooter, U.S forest service, border patrol and WWII US Army officer. The life and times of the colonel and his personnel rifles are featured in "The ACCURATE RIFLE" April 2003, VOL 6, No. 3. This rifle is number 1 of the colonel 12 favorites features in "THE ACCURATE RIFLE." The number 2572 Griffin & Howe barrel is marked "8mm Rem. Mag." Made without iron sights. The right hand Remington model 721 B has been converted to left hand by Guise and so marked with a redfield one-piece scope base. The custom left hand extra fancy American black walnut stock features multi-point checkering, shadow line cheekpiece, steel grip cap and buttplate, ebony forend tip, and sling swivel studs.
