The consignor states this rifle is custom factory engraved and was produced for John Olin. (We have no record to verify this.) Manufactured as a Model 63 in 1939, with a fixed gold bead front and adjustable rear sights. The left side features an engraving of two squirrels on a branch surrounded by floral scroll. The right side has engraving of three rabbits in a field by a tree surrounded by floral scroll. There is a small wedge of floral scroll engraving on the top of the receiver near the breech and a small wedge on the bottom under the serial number. The trigger guard has the initials "J/M/O" inlaid in gold. Mounted on a fancy multi-point checkered walnut forearm and pistol grip stock with sling swivel studs and a smooth steel buttplate.

Condition: Near mint as custom embellished, possibly by factory shop, with 99% factory quality finish with some finish loss on the barrel, front sight and a small scratch near the operating sleeve. The barrel has very small spotting all over. The wood has a few scattered small pressure dents and scratches and is otherwise excellent. Mechanically excellent. A little research could prove profitable.
