Manufactured in 1870 and subsequently custom engraved in the late 20th century, with a scroll pattern on a punch dot background. The scrollwork is extensive as it covers most of the area featured on the barrel, cylinder and frame. The scrollwork extends to the sides of the hammer and trigger guard shoulders with wedges of the engraving in front of the trigger and on the back strap. The top of the back strap features a fan engraving and the cylinder flutes feature an arrow and dot motif. The loading lever and barrel wedge feature engraved accents and the screw heads have been punch engraved to match the engraving on the main components. "COLTS / PATENT" (traces remaining) is the only visible marking with the barrel address removed by the engraving. Visible numbers match. Fitted with a smooth one piece grip.
