A) This matched pair of dueling pistols feature blade front sight and fixed notch rear sight mounted on the barrel tang. The lock, hammer, barrel tang, lower tang and trigger guard are engraved with floral leaf designs. The lock is marked "FNI PAR/MARENBERT A PARIS" in gold and the top of the breechblock is marked "1" and "2" respectively. The trigger guard has a finger spur and the pistols are mounted with a one piece half stock secured by a single wedge, The grip area is carved with decorative flutes, the iron buttcap has floral leaf engraving and the forend and relief scroll carving. The case is contemporary and has been relined with green felt. In the case is a wooden cleaning rod and ramrod, nipple wrench, oiler, flask and contemporary plastic cap container.

Condition: Fine. The metal surfaces have a smooth mottled gray patina with faint damascus "swirl" pattern. The stock is very fine with a couple of small gouges and overall minor dings and dents. The carving remains sharp. All of the gold remains in the lock marking. The engraving is crisp. The action is excellent. The case is very good overall. The accessories are good or better.
