Manufactured in 1855. This revolver has the distinctive steel back strap and large oval trigger guard. The hammer spur has the bordered knurling found on London Navy hammers. The top barrel flat is marked "ADDRESS COL COLT LONDON" with inward pointing arrows and the left side of the frame is marked "COLTS/PATENT". The left side of the barrel flat ahead of the wedge is marked with a "crown/V" and "crown/GP" proof marks. The cylinder is roll engraved with the Texas Navy battle scene and marked with the crown "V" and "GP" proof alternating between the nipple recesses. The matching serial number is marked on the bottom of the barrel lug, frame, trigger guard, back strap, cylinder, loading lever and arbor pin, with the partial number "769" on the wedge. The barrel, cylinder, trigger guard and back strap were blue, the loading lever, frame and hammer casehardened. Fitted with a smooth replacement one-piece burl walnut grip. Complete in a 20th Century relined wooden case with brass disk on the lid inscribed "JM" and wine colored velvet lining with directions for loading and reproduction cleaning label affixed to the inside of the lid. In the case is an extra cylinder re-numbered to match the gun, with roll engraved naval battle scene and alternating "crown/V" and "crown/GP" proof marks, bag shaped Dixon powder flask, Eley Bros. cap tin, key, two cavity iron bullet mold with "COLT'S/PATENT" marked sprue cutter and "36B" on one arm, a nickel oiler and a few lead conical and round balls.

Condition: Good. The metal surfaces have a brown patina with some wear on the edges of the octagon barrel. The grip is fine with a number of dents on the bottom right side, half of the varnish and a few light dents and scratches. The cylinder scene is faint but visible and the markings are clear. The action is excellent. The case is good with a minor crack running the width of the bottom and a few minor scratches. The lining shows some heavy wear and tearing in the area of the grip, otherwise very good with some light contact wear and a few stains. The flask is very good with a couple mild dents, the cap tin is good with some chipping of the black paint, the oiler is about good with a couple minor dents and some moderate pitting, the mold has a smooth mottled grayish patina and the extra cylinder has a smooth brown patina with 80% scene remaining and clear markings.
