This is a circa late 19th Century fully beaded and tacked harness leather belt from the Crow Native American Indians of Montana. The piece shows a harness saddle leather construction with artful traditional geometric beadwork in period correct glass trade seed beads of semi-transparent translucent, greasy yellow, semi-transparent translucent Cheyenne Pink, faceted black, red and light blue. The beadwork is accented by the brass trade tacked design and the original Indian tanned hide tie straps still intact. The piece shows minimal bead loss. These belts were sometimes worn as a sash across the chest instead of a belt by the Crow Warriors. Measures overall 41 ¾ inches in length and is 3 ½ inches wide.
