The lot features an excellent set of circa 19th Century hide beaded men’s moccasins from the Crow Apsaalooke Native Americans of Montana. These circa 1800’s moccasins show an Indian tanned rawhide construction with Buffalo parfleche hard soles having a rich dark worn patina from honest age and use. The tops show a medium height ankle with long tongue and some of the original ties all being sinew sewn and accented by all period correct 1800’s glass trade seed beads in a geometric cross pattern. The beadwork shows greasy yellow, amber, greasy lilac, semi-transparent green, and blue. The hide has a rigid stiff well patina’d condition with little to no bead loss and little to no cracking. Provenance: From a prominent Billings, Montana American Indian collection where the pieces were authenticated by an expert. Measures 11 inches along the hard soles by 4.5”H at the ankle by 4.5”W at the foot.
