Confederate issue Rigdon & Ansley, .36 caliber percussion Navy size revolver marked “Augusta, GA, CSA” and one of only 18 examples known currently to collectors, serial number 1584. The bottom of the right grip shows the inspectors cartouche ofCapt. Wescom Hudgins the Confederate ordinance inspector. All matching numbers including number in grip channel beneath the grips. This revolver remains in good to very good condition showing a brown patina finish with normal Confederate metalflaws from poor forging process which is what you want to see. A small crack in the barrel lug by the left frame pin and a small loss of metal in that area. The revolver shows its original 12 notch cylinder and the grips are very good plus to near fine for a Confederate revolver with a fully visible cartouche. The action works well and the interior is good. A very sound and attractive Confederate pistol with no problems and no cleaning. This rare pistol has a long provenancehistory beginning with William A. Albaugh from H. O. Kaar of Illinois 1958 sold by W. A. Albaugh to William Florence in 1959 to Clyde Culver, September 1960 to Robert O. Persons to Robert Berryman to Cecil Anderson 1973 to Dr. Tom K.
