Confederate issue Augusta Machine Works (Georgia) Navy size percussion revolver in .36 caliber with iron frame closely resembling Colt Navy assembly numbered 4 with six notch cylinder. This revolver remains in very good plus condition showing apleasing gray to brown patina finish with good sharp edges and some scattered light to moderate pitting and erosion. The barrel, cylinder and frame show a hint of original colors. The cylinder shows all of its original safety pins. The straps show Confederate color brass with a beautiful patina and the grips are very good plus with just slight edge wear and considerable original varnish. The quality of manufacture is much higher than normal Confederate revolvers and nearly on a par with a Colt Navy. The action works well and the interior is good. The frame and other metal surfaces show striations and flaws in forging which are common to Confederate made revolvers. A very rare Confederate revolver with estimates ofabout a dozen or less still extant and probably 100 or less produced. Refer Flayderman 10-001. The collection of William A. Gary consigned by his estate. Est.: $25,000-$50,000
