Confederate Spiller & Burr period assembled possibly by armory with Whitney barrel and lever, serial number 97 showing matching patina. The right side of the frame is marked “CS” and the front of the barrel has been crowned like aSpiller and Burr where as the Whitney muzzle is flat. The bottom rear of the barrel shows the number 2. The grips also have been fitted from a Whitney. Bill Gary’s inventory card states “That it is his belief that Confederate manufacturesused salvaged parts from battlefield pickups”. and he believed that this Spiller and Burr came from the factory with Whitney parts. Inventory card included. The frame shows a great patina with some dings, mars, scratches and normal aging. Thecylinder and barrel show an absolutely matching patina as does the lever. The grips have been on this revolver all its working life and are also matching in age. The action works well and the revolver is very attractive. The collection ofWilliam A. Gary consigned by his estate. Est.: $9000-$18,000
