Confederate Richmond musket in .58 caliber rifled showing 40” barrel, dated 1864. Confederate arsenal cast brass butt plate and forend. The metal surfaces show a dark un-cleaned brown patina with good C.S. and Richmond markings with cleardate on the rear of the lock. The condition of the barrel, lock and mounts all match very well and the rifle appears to have been together its entire life. The stock is Confederate with no recess for Maynard primer device. The overall condition isvery good plus. The ramrod channel shows a couple of very small losses and there are some minor dings, mars, scratches and normal aging. The bore shows traces of rifling and lots of use. The rear of the barrel shows an 1864 date with V and Pproofes (Refer Flayderman 10 – 052). A correct style ramrod is included which shows a matching patina. William A. Gary collection consigned by his estate. Est.: $7,000-$14,000
