Confederate 1863-dated Enfield pattern .58 caliber rifled musket by Birmingham Small Arms Co with Tower-marked lock. The stock shows Birmingham small arms company cartouche at right center of buttstock, also anchorcartouche in front of buttplate, inspector’s name “J. Bourne” in belly of stock, “B. Dixon” just above the triggerguard on the left side of the stock with “9” and other small cartouches. The rifle remains in verygood plus original condition showing a light grey brown patina on barrel with some light to moderate pitting, strong traces of case hardening on lock. Very good plus stock with just a few storage mars and dings, a coupleof gouges. Original sling swivels, cleaning rod, sharp markings, original sights. Completely untouched and the best confederate inspector-marked Enfield we have viewed in a long while. Includes British marked slotbayonet and retaining ring. Appears correct to the rifled musket.
