Comanche Skull Cracker War Club 19th Century
This is an exceptional authentic example of Comanche Native American Indian Skullcracker (Skull Cracker) War Club from the 19th Century. The piece is from the ex-Collection of Ted and Lilly Jarvis and Tom Hardy. The piece features a stone war club head affixed to the wooden haft handle with wetted and stretched parfleche rawhide. The haft is wonderfully covered in two sections of parfleche rawhide that is sewn with sinew along with being decorated with a nice section of 19th Century period correct cen seed beads in chalk white, brass trade tacks in three separate rows, a fringe gasket of Buffalo hide with a green ocher mineral dye and a drop of Buffalo hide at the bottom with long hand cut fringe also showing a nice green ocher dye. The club shows a nice even patina with proper signs of age and use, all indicative of authentic age. Provenance: From the large collections of American Indian artifacts and weapons of Ted and Lilly Jarvis of Wyoming and Tom Hardy of Sante Fe, New Mexico and Ohio. The piece has a wonderful art appeal and would be a phenomenal additional to any American Indian Weapons collection. The head stone measures 3 ¼ inches long.
