The lot features a wonderful Southern Plains Comanche Native American Indian beaded shoulder bag dating to circa 1890-1900. The bag shows a pouch beaded on both sides made of Indian tanned hide and a beaded strap attached with hide lacing. There is some minor bead loss on the strap, but overall the piece is in very good condition. A piece such as this would have typically been used to either carry small game back from hunting or often to carry extra rifle cartridges, day trip provisions, etc.. The beaded strap shows a heavier pliable, but slightly stiff Indian tanned hide having an excellent original patina. Tha bag shows a wonderfully soft and patina'd Indian tanend hide. The beadwork shows a fine tradtitiaonl geometric pattern in chalk white, semi-transparent greasy yellow, Cheyenne pink, padre sky blue, semi-transparent red, semi-transparent blue,. semi-transparent dark green, medium green, semi-transparent red white hearts, semi-transparent dark blue, and light green. The bag is sewn with both sinew and trade thread. The piece shows a very fine craftsmanship and wonderful colorful artistic appearance. Measures overall 28"L with strap by 10"W.
