Colt tribute to American hero Joe Foss legendary Marine Corps fighter pilot who was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor during World War II. This Colt features a Government Model Series 70 .45 acp Modelembellished by the Colt Custom Workshop and assigned number JF0226 with factory letter shipped to Northeast gun supply October 24, 1989. The pistol is finely royal blued with gold embellishments showing the life andcareer of Foss as an aviator, Tribute to service in the field artillery, service to the Marine Corps, his South Dakota farm house, and his life as Gov. of South Dakota. He was also Commissioner of the AmericanFootball League and president of the NRA. This issue originally came with walnut stocks but this pistol has had factory custom shop ivory grips with gold medallions and set by special screws operated with by a allenwrench fitted to the frame. A special presentation fitted case with medallion and information made by Colt is also included along with a letter of provenance from Colt fitted in the case. The condition is
