Colt model 1911 commercial, .45 ACP caliber semi-automatic pistol, British proofed, and period “RFC” marked on interior of grip strap (for Royal Flying Corps). The pistol retains 85-95% original bright blue finish driftingslightly at the muzzle and edges and most of the loss from the grip strap and mainspring areas where gripped. Some minor scratches, but generally finish is very bright and inky. The grips are near fine with bright bluedscrews, just a couple of minor bruises and handling marks that are slight. The markings are sharp, the edges crisp, the original barrel with proofmarks are retained. The interior shows little use, the bore also near excellent. Serial #C97867. A Colt research letter would be interesting as it may aid in tracking the shipment to unit or individual. A strong 8-.5-9.0 on 1-10 scale, with absolutely original markings. Est: $1,400 -2800
