Colt model 1861 Navy Revolver, .36 caliber percussion, barrel shortened during period of use to 3”, with blade type front sight, blue and case hardened finish, varnish wood grips, serial, #35075 on frame and backstrap, and triggerguard, #34317 on barrel. These shortened Colts have been termed Mormon Avengers after the famous Utah gunman Porter Rockwell. The barrel shows approx. 40-60% original blue, some wear at the high points and edges from being carried in a holster. The cylinder shows 60-80% scene with clear engagement dates, some scattered light to moderate erosion and pitting, and some light cleaning long ago. The frame and hammer show 50-70% case hardening that is dulling with some vivid rainbow colors where protected. The varnish wood grips are good to very good with 70% varnish, an area of fill and repair at bottom right grip, some tacking marks, probably from being used to tack back on horseshoes, and some small losses, but at least good overall. The action is tight. The pistol was carried and used, and shortened during its lifetime with professionally crowned muzzle and gunsmith-made front sight. Est: $1,000 - $2,000
