Colt model 1860 army, .44 caliber percussion, 7-1/2” barrel, fluted cylinder, four-screw frame, serial number 1499, in range that may letter as shipped to the South. The revolver shows a light grey patina finish withscattered light to moderate scattered erosion and pinprick pitting, the heavier pitting occurring on the edges of the cylinder, rear of barrel, and near the muzzle. The barrel address is good and sharp, the patent datesare visible on the cylinder and Colt’s patent on frame. The grips are very good with 50% evenly thinning varnish, some minor scratches, but generally good to very good overall. The triggerguard shows traces ofdarkened silver. All matching visible serial numbers, tight action, good overall. A much better than average early fluted army that should be further researched to location of shipment. Est: $2,500 - $5,000
