Colt model 1855 Root revolving carbine, .56 caliber percussion, 21” barrel, blued finish, brass triggerguard and buttplate, factory mounted with saddle ring, British proofed, serial #11009, with all matching serialnumbers. The carbine shows 50-70% original blue evenly drifting and toning with some scattered light to moderate erosion and pinprick pitting mostly confined to the firing areas. The patent dates on thecylinder are sharp, the Colt address on the groove of the frame is also sharp. The Colt marking on left side of frame is an original light stamp and barely visible. The edges are sharp, the original sights are retained. The hammer shows considerable case hardening drifting to patina. The action is good, the bore near excellent and shiny.
