Colt model 1849 pocket revolver, .31 caliber percussion, 5” barrel, blue and case hardened finish, varnish wood grips, serial #121104. The pistol shows two-line NY address with five-shot cylinder. The barrel shows 20-40%original blue, evenly thinning and drifting to a thinning patina with some scattered erosion and pinprick pitting just starting. The barrel address is sharp and clear, the cylinder retains 75-85% original scene withsome minor pitting and generally good. The frame, hammer, loading lever show 40-60% case hardening going to patina with some light rainbow colors still evident. The backstrap and triggerguard show 90% plus darkenedoriginal heavy silver plate. The varnish wood grips are also very good plus with 80-90% varnish, some minor nicks, mars, wear at the bottom edge. All matching visible serial numbers, tight action, bright bore. According to collector’s tag, made the 3rd week of June 1856, acquired from his father, 1967. Dr. Sterling Fenn collection.
