Colt model 1849 pocket model, .31 caliber percussion, 4” barrel, fully and finely engraved in the hand of Gustav Young. Scarce iron backstrap and triggerguard. Hand-cut barrel address, Serial #112290. The pistolshows traces of original blue and case hardening drifting to an even grey with some evidence of case hardening and blue in protected areas and generally good metal surfaces. The pistol is fitted with originalto the period ivory grips that fit nicely and show a mellow yellow age, slight shrinking and a large chip to right toe. The pistol show all matching serial numbers, and approx. 75-85% original cylinder scene. There aresome minor marks on the barrel, some light to moderate pitting at the muzzle. The engraving is typical Young pattern with Colt’s patent hand cut in center of frame surrounded by deluxe scrolls, cobwebs, withdog head above ramrod screw and floral motifs.
