This is an excellent example of a U.S. Colt Service Model Ace pistol that was manufactured in 1945 and shipped to the Naval Supply Officer, Norfolk, Virginia on August 7, 1945, as part of a lot of 1500 pistols. The pistol has the late Colt parco-lubrite finish and is fitted with brown, checkered, "Coltwood" grips with large reinforcing rings, interior strengthening ribs and mold numbers. "SM 11504" is lightly scratched on the inside of each grip. The barrel is blued and the top of the chamber is polished bright. The magazine has a parco-lubrite finish. The slide is fitted with the standard Stevens target rear sight and Ace front sight with milled face. The pistol has the war-time production stamped trigger, 7-rib mainspring housing, narrow hammer with checkered spur stamped safety lock and grooved slide stop. The main spring housing is, correctly, not fitted with a lanyard loop. The right side of the frame is roll-stamped: "UNITED STATES PROPERTY/ S M 11504" in two lines behind the disconnector hole and the Ordnance Corps escutcheon is stamped behind the right grip. The left side of the trigger guard bow stamped with an "e" assembler's mark and the Colt "Triangle/VP" proofmark. The rarely encountered "JSB" Ordnance final inspection mark is stamped on the left side of the frame above the magazine release. The top of the barrel chamber is roll-stamped: "COLT/CAL. 22 L.R." in two lines. The right side of the slide has the distinctive "COLT SERVICE/MODEL ACE .22 LONG/RIFLE" markings. The left side of the slide is roll-stamped with the elongated Ace Hartford address and patent numbers followed by the Rampant Colt trademark. The late style slide is correctly not serial numbered. The magazine floorplate is roll-stamped: "COLT/22 ACE L.R./SERVICE MODEL" in three lines.

Condition: Excellent. The pistol retains 90% plus of the original parco-lubrite finish. The slide and frame have some minor edge wear on high points and minor storage and handling marks. The magazine is in excellent condition with about 90% of the original parco-lubrite finish intact. This is an excellent example of one of the very last U.S. contract Service Model Ace pistols manufactured with very scarce "JSB" final inspection mark.
