Manufactured in 1912, this pistol is one of 250 pistols shipped to the Augusta Arsenal, Augusta, Georgia on October 16, 1912. The left side of the slide is marked with the two line, two block 1897-1911 patent dates and address with the circled Rampant Colt behind the serrations, the left side of the frame is marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" and has the circle "WGP" inspection mark of Major Walter G. Penfield above the magazine release. The rear of the slide is marked "H" above the firing pin and the right side is marked "MODEL OF 1911 U.S. ARMY", with the serial number on the right side of the frame behind the slide stop. The top of the barrel chamber is marked with a "H" and "P" with the common leg. Smooth trigger, checkered slide stop, thumb safety, magazine release and wide spur hammer. Standard lower profile fixed sights, (early variation rounded rear sight), lanyard loop on the heel, two tone unmarked magazine with lanyard loop on the bottom and fitted with checkered walnut grips with diamond pattern around the screws.

Condition: Very good. The pistol retains 40% original thin blue finish with the majority concentrated on the slide, right side of the frame and bottom of the frame. The balance has a smooth gray and brownish gray patina. The checkering on the grips has been re-cut remaining sharp, and there are light handling marks. The grip screws show some slight marring. The markings are highlighted in white and remain clear and crisp. Mechanically excellent.
