U.S. Military large frame double-action service revolver chambered in .45 Automatic, manufactured in Hartford, CT circa 1919. Features a blued finish, 5.5" round tapered barrel, blade front sight, rear of blade painted white,"u" notched rear sight, fluted six-shot swing-out cylinder, non-shrouded ejector rod, smooth trigger, checkered hammer spur, steel frame with lanyard ring on the butt, and after market composite finger grooved grips. Markings: Frame - partial “GHS” monogram inside a circle, “U.S./ARMY/MODEL/1917" & "No/37/196". Barrel - "UNITED STATES PROPERTY", "COLT'S PT FA. MFG. CO. HARTFORD CT U.S.A./PATD AUG 5.1884 JUNE 5 1900 JULY 4 1905" a little faint & "COLT D.A.45". Matching serial numbers. Revolver retains approximately 60% of its blued finish showing holster/handling wear, thinning. Action is sound with a tight lock-up, the bore appears excellent but dirty, the markings are fair. With the proper grips this would be a nice 1917. Condition is NRA Good. C&R Firearm.
