Manufactured in 1859. The revolver has the round brass trigger guard and rectangular cylinder stops found on Third Model Dragoons. The top flat of the barrel is marked "ADDRESS SAML COLT NEW YORK CITY-", the left side of the frame is marked "COLTS/PATENT", the left upper front of the trigger guard is marked with a small "B" and the left shoulder "G". The cylinder is roll-engraved with the Ranger and Indian fight scene, (faint) and "MODEL U.S.M.R./COLT'S PATENT" legend, (barely visible), and the matching serial number. The complete matching serial number is stamped on the barrel lug, frame, trigger guard and back strap, and the partial number "8059" on the loading lever, wedge and arbor pin. Standard brass blade front sight and hammer notch rear sight and fitted with smooth one-piece walnut grip.

Gauge: 44 percussion

Serial Number: 18059
Condition: Very good. The metal surfaces have a smooth mottled dark brown patina with a few minor dings on the barrel and abrasive scratches on the left side of the frame. The brass appears to have been cleaned some time ago and now has a dull aged patina with strong traces of original silver in the protected areas of the trigger guard bow. The grip has been freshened with a light coat of varnish and remains good with some lower edge wear and some scattered minor dings and scratches. Unless noted above, the markings are clear. The action is fine.
