Colt Texas Paterson with rare original banded decoration and select burl walnut grips, .36 caliber percussion, 7-1/2” barrel, 5-shot, serial #69. Pictured in The Book of Colt Firearms by Sutherland and Wilson andformerly in the Robert Sutherland collection. Illustrated at the beginning of the chapter, item “A”, page 32. Decorated Colt Patersons are extremely rare with approx. 12 known engraved and less than 10 authentic bandedTexas models making them among the rarest of all Colt firearms. This Paterson shows seven bands and a plaque inlay in the backstrap for a total of eight. The most highly decorated Patersons will have seven or more, eight ornine are considered exceptionally deluxe. This Paterson, serial #69, shows all matching numbers and has been professionally restored. A letter concerning this restoration by master gunsmith H. L. Acevedo(the artisan who accomplished the work that Tom Haas Sr. supervised in his later years) is included and in summary states that he repaired the end of the barrel, restored the barrel address, and rerolled the cylinder.
