Colt Single Action Army revolver in .45 caliber, 5 ½” barrel, re-nickeled finish, hard rubber grips showing D.F.C. inspections on frame and bottom of barrel, serial number 74025. The revolver has been polished aggressively and re-nickeled long ago. The frame shows 3 line patent dates and the trigger guard shows a .45 caliber marking on the front of the bow along with renumbering. The back strap shows the correct original number matching to the frame. The grips fit well and the cylinder is numbered 7380 and is an early type with lead-in grooves. The barrel address is not legible and there has been a repair to the top of the frame and the sighting groove has been recut. The top strap appears to of been blown and repaired. The grips fit well. The front sight has been reshaped. Sold as a historical artifact and is not safe to shoot and good for display in holster. Factory letter confirms shipment to U.S. Government October 26, 1881.
