Colt Single Action Army revolver in .44 special caliber with 5 ½” barrel fully and finely Western scroll engraved with raised carved Pearl grips showing steer head with 18 karat gold horns and nose ring with ruby eyes, serial number 335540. The revolver has been restored and refinished to excellent condition and shows a bright nickel finish. The interior is fine to near excellent and shows little to no use since restoration. The edges are sharp and the markings are crisp. The grips are of the type sold by Wolf and Klar who were dealers, engravers, and jewelers in Fort Worth, Texas. The pistol is cased within a coffin style satin lined casing with legend engraved on brass plaque in lid “Here Lies Mr. Colt”. A very attractive and showy Colt single action which recently was a regional show winner when displayed. Factory letter states originally shipped .32-20 caliber with a 4 ¾” barrel, blued finish to Praeger Hardware Co. San Antonio, Texas March 21st, 1917. Gale Kennedy Historical West Collection.
