Colt Single Action Army revolver factory deluxe engraved probably for the 1876 factory display board with nickel and gold finish, ivory grips, 7 ½” barrel, .45 colt caliber, shipped to H.D Folsom Arms Company, New York, New York, March 6th , 1894 with 1 gun in shipment. All features are confirmed by factory letter. This Colt is pictured on page 178 of “Colt Pistols” by Habel and Wilson. Advanced single action collectors recognize the fact that this style engraving was very special and deluxe and that the serial number would indicate production during the Centennial for the Colt display board. This engraving with deluxe treatment on hammer and sight is attributed to one of the Ulrich family of engravers who engraved extra special quality Colts for the factory. The factory retained this single action for almost 20 years and most likely used it as an exhibition piece and sales model. This single action was factory refinished to mint condition when shipped in 1894. This exhibition Colt retains 95% plus original factory finish with just some slight aging on the hammer and small losses on the ejector rod housing. The grips fit impeccably and show just slight normal aging. The gold on the hammer and ejector rod housing is drifting slightly at the edges. The small parts and screws show most of their bright blue finish and the trigger shows most of its original gold. The action is crisp, the bores is excellent. This single action number 11088 and its mate 11089 have long been considered by collectors and dealers to be among the most important factory engraved exhibition arms. Provenance Robert Hable, Buck Stevens, George Taylor. Est.: $60,000-$120,000
