Colt Single Action Army revolver, US Cavalry series, 7-1/2” barrel, brown patina finish, one-piece wood grips, in prime Custer range. Serial #6067. Letter of authentication from noted expert John A. Kopec discusses thisrevolver which is also analyzed on page 283 of Colt Cavalry and Artillery Revolvers by Kopec and Fenn. The text discusses Indian oral history indicating the capture of this pistol at The Little Big Horn and discussesthe fact that this revolver was found on the Fort Peck Sioux Indian Reservation. Also that it is close in serial number to 6048, an actual battlefield find. The revolver remains in untouched as-found original conditionwith a deep brown patina finish, good markings, some scattered light to moderate erosion and pinprick pitting, some traces of finish in the patina, and some good blue in the cylinder flutes. The front sight has been slimmed slightly. All matching serial numbers. Grips show wear and are slightly shrunk with some small losses at the edges. The barrel address is fully legible.
