Colt Single Action Army revolver, US Cavalry series, .45 caliber, 7-1/2” barrel, wood grips, serial #4955 in Custer range with letter of authentication by John A. Kopec. Featured on page 258, Colt Cavalry andArtillery Revolvers by Kopec and Fenn, mentioning that it is from Lot 5, of which the majority were issued to the 7th Cavalry in June 1874 and was found in North Dakota with collector’s history as being associatedwith the battle of The Little Big Horn. A note penned by co-author Dr. Sterling Fenn states ‘traced to family in (illegible) supposed Custer Seventh Cavalry association as per family (J. Jenson). The revolverremains in very good untouched condition with a natural grey patina finish, some scattered light erosion and pinprick pitting and very good grips just showing normal wear and a couple of small chips. It is described as an‘exceptional Lot 5 Cavalry revolver’ by Kopec. The markings are sharp, edges are crisp, all matching serial numbers. Good action, good bore.
